The Red Hat Society: Girls Just Want to Have Fun

Looking for fun, excitement and companionship? Do you like to dress up and go out with friends for a night or day on the town? Then I know just the group for you-The Red Hat Society.

The Red Hat Society is a wonderful social outlet for women over the age of 50. The Red Hat Ladies get together and do a wide variety of fun things, always wearing their purple clothing and infamous red hats.

Regardless of our age, we still like to play 'dress up' and giggle with our girl friends, and the Red Hat Society allows women to do just that.

The main responsibility of these women when they get together for social outings is to have fun, but there is an underlying mission also-to gain higher visibility and to reshape the way our society views women of a certain age. Society views a woman over 50 as being ready for a rocking chair and knitting needles, but 50 years of experience make that woman a valuable asset to our society, not someone who should be relegated to a rocky chair. By age 50, a woman is usually free from the demands, time constraints and stress of raising children and/or establishing herself in Corporate America. She has arrived, so to speak, and ready to begin a new chapter in her life. The Red Hat Society is ready to arrive with her and provide companionship and just plain fun. The Red Hat Society is one million strong and growing. Chapters of the Society, both official and unofficial, are springing up everywhere. You see the Red Hat Ladies in restaurants, stores, or perhaps even driving down the highway on their way to another fun adventure

Recently , The Laughing Red Hats of North Georgia got together in a nearby town for a scavenger hunt. They had a blast, so did everyone else who participated in or watched the event. If laughter truly is the best medicine, then those ladies will not have to go to the doctor for a long time!

There are a few groups of The Pink Hat Society for women under the age of 50, it has not gained the popularity yet of it's older sister group. Maybe you just have to be a woman of a 'certain age' before you can look regal while dressed in clashing colors and giggling.
