Disney's "The Lion King" will again grace The Music Hall at Fair Park at the State Fair of Texas Show in Dallas Sept. 20-Oct. 21.

Giraffes amble, birds fly, and gazelles will jump as Dallas theater-goers get their cartoon-come-to-life fix.

It's the featured Broadway musical at this year's fair set in the fictional Pride Lands of Africa telling the story of Simba who undergoes various trials and tribulations then returns with his own bride and cub with honors as he is destined to become king.

Nighttime performances and matinees will be presented daily except Mondays.

The Tony award-winning 32nd Disney animated production which was released as a 1994 movie features great masks, elaborate costumes, puppets, and stunning music.

Tickets range from $29 to $72.00. Singles may be bought at the box office at Preston-Royal Road, 542 Preston Royal Shopping Center in Dallas and all Ticketmaster retail locations or by going to ticketmaster.com.

A cast of over 40 actors brings the play directed by Julie Taymor to life with not only actors in animal costumes but giant, hollow puppets. Taymor and Michael Curry designed several masks and puppets for the live show. After the Broadway success, the show continued to be put on in the United Kingdom and London. It was first performed on stage in 1997 at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

According to research, "The Lion King" sells out in every state it visits. The musical score won a Golden Globe and Oscar and is considered by many to be Disney's finest work. Run time is 2 hours and 45 minutes.

There are currently two touring companies of the production which are both now traveling the country performing. The travel date for Africa has been extended to Dec. 2nd due to demand. Thirty-eight thousand children and teenagers who could not afford to attend there will also be able to see the show. The ten-year anniversary of the South African debut will be celebrated in November in that country. The cast of the new production is made up of entirely all African natives many who have also performed in other shows and are returning to their native land to be featured in the African "Lion King."
