Train Journey Through Mexico

Riding the Rails in Mexico

Have you ever thought of visiting Mexico? How would you like to take a journey across Mexico from El Paso, Texas to Mexico City, Mexico? Does this adventure sound interesting, but the idea of traveling
this distance by car does not sound inviting? Would you like to see the Mexico landscape closer than from an airplane high above? Then how about riding the rail?

The American Orient Express offers its Grand Luxe Mexico tours from El Paso, Texas to Mexico City, Mexico. These tours are 9 days and 8 nights with 6 nights aboard the train and 2 nights in a luxury hotel in Mexico City. Train passengers have the option of traveling in a Grand Suite, a Vintage Pullman, a Single Sleeper, a Parlor Suite or a Classic Presidential Suite.

This fantastic journey through Mexico begins on day one in El Paso, Texas where passengers will board the train. On the train, passengers will enjoy a Welcome Aboard Dinner followed by their first night riding the rail. During this night, the train will travel from El Paso to Chihuahua.

Day two is spent in Chihuahua where passengers can enjoy an excursion through historical Chihuahua, including touring Pancho Villa’s Museum, the Cathedral and the Quinta Gameros, which is an Art Noveau Mansion, before returning to the train for lunch. The journey then continues toward Copper Canyon.

Day three finds the train and its passengers in Copper Canyon. Here passengers can enjoy a morning of taking in the beautiful views from the rim of the canyon or they can be more adventurous and take a hike or even enjoy Tarahumara Indian performances and crafts. In the afternoon, passengers can take a tram ride down the canyon before returning to the train. The train adventure continues toward Mazatlan crossing some 37 bridges and 86 tunnels.
