Peru has recently seen another one of the world's ongoing frequent national tragedies with a very strong earthquake that killed numerous individuals and brought busy towns to rubble. ING has made this donation in part because they hold much of their business in Peru. Their business operations include asset management, pensions, as well as life insurance.
"The devastation in the affected areas is overwhelming, and ING's businesses and employees in the Americas are prepared to provide financial support during this time of response and recovery," said Tom McInerney, ING Executive Board member, chairman and chief executive officer, ING Insurance Americas. "As a member of Peru's business community, we are committed to supporting relief effort, as we have a responsibility to the countries in which we operate and our employees live."
Besides their very generous donation, ING has set up a company employee giving program which they will encourage their workers through out the Americas to make their own personal contributions to this area that is in read of any help that they can get. InG has also set up a relief fund through the International Red Cross known as the Peru Earthquake Disaster Relief Fund. This fund also gives employees the opportunity to donate money towards areas affected by this natural disaster.
So many people must be wondering what ING actually is if they are willing to play such a big role in this earthquake and since this company is obviously international. ING works with several companies who serve their customers under the ING brand as well as a workforce of over 120,000 people as a global financial institution. Global financial institution? ING offers insurance, asset management, and banking to more than 50 different countries totaling up to more than 60 million corporate, institutional, and private clients in the world. Quite amazing.
