I am not one of those obsessed Associated Content lovers where I'm swearing that writing for AC has paid my mortgage, car note or all my bills. But the occasional 3-8 dollars per article came in handy for last minute birthday gifts and other trinkets I would find for myself on eBay. It was nice and convenient to use AC's payments for online shopping because the money is already sitting there in paypal. But as I accumulated more and more junk I really didn't need, I noticed that there were helpful organizations who offered much needed donation through paypal payments. That's when I decided to start writing for AC for a cause.

I recently became hired by a local newspaper as their columnist. Nothing could make me happier because I was not just someone searching online to get paid without getting off my butt, I was an out of work writer who wanted to finely tune my craft. In many ways I do owe associated content for this, but I am very glad I no longer have to value my writing with the pennies they offer me, or denials with no dialog, just brief explanation. (Even as brief as " we want to publish this but don't want to offer payment.) It always irritated me that I could never speak back to this invisible editor rating my work.

So now it's great to be free and whatever AC offers me will go to some needy causes. My first cause is to www.yourchristianspace.com. This website that is trying to accomplish a more wholesome version of myspace needs donations for bandwith and other things. I have spoke with the creator, Will and he is very kind and have a kind heart.

My next needy cause to donate with my AC payments will be www.changinglives.org. Lifechangers church feed thousands of needy youth all over the world as well as give to their members right in their church. I know this because I was the recipient of one of those very generous gifts quite some time ago.

When you comment on a Shamontiel article, Ms. Wintress, is looks like you get the Gang of Three -- Shamontiel, Alyce and me! .... I really don't know about AC. It says that if you waive payment, they will just publish it. But I wrote something negative about a "Ronald Reagan's Diaries" book because I couldn't stand him, and it has been languished as "processing" for more than a week. So maybe they censor us, I don't know.

I am about to comment on everyone's comments to my Jena 6 Three-Part article, but I wanted to visit your page first and say thank you for the kind words. I, too, am donating money to other causes. Any money that I make from the Jena 6 articles gets immediately mailed to the Jena 6 Defense Fund. The rest of your questions will be answered directly on those pieces. Give me a half hour at most.

This new and improved comment box looked great: a scroll bar. My talkative fingers tried it out and comments still got cut off at the end. Hence my habit of double comments. Donating is a grand idea. Shamontiel is donating all her pageview bonus on her Jena 6 article to the teens defense fund. About 700 comments it is getting the views. She has deleted many of them. One particular AC CP was extremely nasty. She held up fairly well trying to speak reasonably to the constant barrage of insults, reminding herself the haters were helping those they hate via her pageview donations.

They actually said that! (brief)I have been publishing for no pay because I have things I want to say. Even so, I usually give them exclusive rights, because if they don't earn, nobody gets paid. I actually think they did sell one of my articles, because of the volume of pageviews and very few comments. When they told me they only wanted book reviews about consumer related products (is not a book a consumer product, and how do these people argue with the editors?) I decided not to give them the exclusive rights on the ones I write.
