This very feminine tulip pattern waste basket is inspired by 7 Gypsies scrapbook paper, and would look wonderful in a Shabby Chic style room! The soft pinks and lavender flowers in this print are just simply adorable and this monogrammed project is very easy to create.

For this project, you will need:

- One small plain white plastic waste basket

- Medium grit sandpaper

- One soft cloth

- Spray paint primer designed for plastics

- Peach or lavender colored spray paint

- One pair of scissors

- Decoupage medium

- Three or four sheets of 7 Gypsies "Tulipe" print scrapbook paper (available in stores or online at Memory Villa)

- One popsicle stick

- Plum colored acrylic paint

- Gold colored acrylic paint

- One artist's paintbrush

- Acrylic finishing spray

Begin by first "roughing up" the plastic waste basket with medium grit sandpaper. Gently wipe off all dust from the waste basket with the soft cloth. Add one coat of spray paint primer designed for plastics and allow it to dry thoroughly.

Apply two to three coats of peach or lavender colored spray paint, and allow each coat to dry well before applying the next. With the scissors, cut out several large heart shapes from the 7 Gypsies "Tulipe" print scrapbook paper. (This can be done with various sized hearts, or uniform shapes. Also consider tracing the shapes onto the pattern lightly with a pencil before beginning cutting.)

Apply decoupage medium directly to the back of the first heart. Apply a bit more directly on the spot on the waste basket you wish to secure the hearts. Press the heart directly to the waste basket and hold for a few seconds. Using the popsicle stick, smooth the heart shape to remove any wrinkles or bubbles. Repeat this process with the remaining heart shapes. Allow the decoupage glue to dry fully.

Next, with the plum colored acrylic paint and artist's brush, outline each of the heart shapes. In the center of one heart, apply a fancy script monogram with gold acrylic paint. Add additional painted details as desired directly onto the waste basket.
