If you happen to visit Dwarkadhis temple at Dwarka in Gujarat State of India, you must keep one day more for visiting bat Dwarka and other famous temples near Dwarka. Bat Dwarka is considered as the old Dwarka and most of the temples are very ancient here. Bat Dwarka is situated 18 miles away from main city of Dwarka. There are lot of taxis and package tours available to visit bat Dwarka. It takes around 8 hours for the entire trip to bat Dwarka. It is said that lord Krishna was residing here with his 16108 queens. We have visited bat Dwarka many times and based on our experience, it is advisable to start from Dwarka at around 8am in the morning. You shall reach Bat Dwarka by around 10am. You will have to travel by launch service in the sea to reach Bat Dwarka. This Sea journey takes around 45 minutes and you need to pay Rs.20 per head for this sea journey. Lots of sea birds are seen traveling with you. Make sure to carry some food for these birds and feed them during the way. These sea birds are white in color and are able to fly at a very high speed. One negative aspect of this journey is the dirty smell of the dead fish in this entire area. If you are allergic to such smell, you may avoid your visit to Bat Dwarka. There is also a Dwarkadhis temple here, which is considered more ancient than the main city temple. There is a Rukshmani temple here that has 16108 corners that belong to each queen of Lord Krishna. This temple has 108 steps to climb to reach the beautiful statue of the main queen Rukshmani. There are also temples of Shankhodwar and Mahaprabhuji here at Bat Dwarka. Once we have darshnas at these temples, we will have to return back by the same steam launch towards the city side.
On our way back to Dwarka city, we can visit famous Nageshwar mahadev temple of lord Shiva. This lord Shiva temple is considered as one of the twelve famous jyotirling temples. Lord Shiva had killed asoor named Daruk here who was troubling all the people of this area. The renovation is completed of this temple now and we were able to see a large statue of Lord Shiva that is 45 feet high. The temple is having a very peaceful and quiet environment.
