I am a huge fan of Dr. Nicholas Perricone. I have always found his books to be on the cutting edge of the health and beauty connection and I've incorporated his regime into my life with tremendous results.

Dr. Perricone bases his program on an "inside out approach", meaning that following an anti-inflammatory diet (fish, no refined sugar, fruits, veggies, etc) will keep you healthy and fight premature aging at a cellular level, which in turn creates a radiant, youthful complexion.

In addition to his bestselling books, Dr. Perricone markets a line of skincare products the majority of that are based on just a handful of powerful ingredients: Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA), Retinol, Vitamin C Ester, Hyaluronic Acid and DMAE.

Here's a rundown of what these do for your skinny skin skin:

- Alpha Lipoic Acid ( ALA ): Increases circulation which tightens pores and produces a more even complexion

- Retinol: Encourages cell turnover which generates radiant, glowing skin while decreasing the appearance of surface imperfections. Also decreases sebum the yucky white stuff that clogs your pores and creates blemishes.

- Vitamin C Ester: Vitamin C fused with a fatty acid using an ester bond creates a fat-soluble, non-irritating compound superior to traditional Vitamin C at penetrating and renewing skin.

- Hyaluronic Acid (HA): A naturally occurring, moisture-retaining component in skin, HA decreases as we age. Topical HA re-hydrates, restores elasticity and a younger appearance by treating the effects of UV rays, wind and other factors associated with premature aging.

- DMAE: An important nutrient with significant anti-aging properties. DMAE (dimethyl aminoehtanol) is found in human nerve tissue but supplementation is recommended for maintaining optimum levels as we age. Eating fish, taking DMAE capsules and applying topical DMAE are all recommended by Dr. Perricone.

Make no mistake, the Perricone products are fantastic. I highly recommend them - if you have unlimited funds at your disposal. The average Perricone skincare product is $95 for 2oz and many are $120.00 for 2oz.
