Dubai is well known for its wondrous sights and architectural marvels. People visit the city year after year to catch a glimpse of some of these world-renowned attractions. Therefore it is imperative to carry a digital camera along on your trip around the city. First-time visitors may need some tips on the ins and outs of this tourist destination. Here are a few of the most noteworthy places in Dubai where you can best take photos.

Burj al-Arab

The Burj al-Arab is probably the most famous landmark in Dubai. It stands on a man-made island off the coast of the Arabian Gulf and is considered as the tallest hotel in the whole world. Land reclamation had made it possible to built such an amazing display of architectural genius. This 7-star luxury hotel is shaped like a billowing sail and epitomizes the city's urban transformation.

Your trip to Dubai would most definitely be incomplete without taking a snapshot of this remarkable structure. You may also visit the Burj al-Arab to find out what makes it so unique, both inside and out.

Dubai Clock Tower

This forty-year old structure can be found in the middle of a vital traffic circle in Dubai. It was built in the 1960s and was modernized to conform to the city's avant-garde setting.

Ibn Battuta Shopping Mall

The Ibn Battuta is not only well known among shoppers, it is also a good place to take snap shots. This popular shopping hot spot is actually a composite of six malls, each having its own theme. You can choose to have your pictures taken in or outside the Andalusian, North African, Egyptian, Persian, Indian, and Chinese courts. The interiors of each mall are also beautifully decorated. It is indeed a place worth visiting.

Dubai Creek Park

A trip along the Creek is a rewarding experience in itself. Nevertheless, it basically serves as a good vantage point to take photos of Dubai's famous landmarks. You can also take an Abra (water taxi) ride across the creek for better views of the city.

A word of advice: observe a certain degree of tact in taking photos. Keep in mind that it is forbidden to take pictures of local women in the city. In addition, local men should only be included in the photos after they have consented to it.
