Bumble Bee Premium Wild Pink Salmon is a tasty treat that is easy to prepare whether you want to just make a sandwich or make a creative meal. With all of the mercury warnings, mostly geared toward women, sent out by government agencies and health agencies that recommend limiting the consumption of certain fish, including tuna, canned and pouched salmon is a good alternative. According to the US FDA website, canned salmon has mercury levels below detection. This is good news for fish lovers and also the reason I decided to give Bumble Bee Premium Wild Pink Salmon a try.The Bumble Bee Pink Salmon that comes in a pouch is easier to open than canned salmon and also has a better texture than its canned brethren. The large pouch is six ounces and, purchased from my local Stop & Shop, it cost me $2.79 which is a good price considering the pouch contains three servings according to its "Nutrition Facts" label where it lists a serving size as two ounces. The only ingredients listed are: pink salmon, water, and salt, so there are no artificial ingredients or preservatives. The package also reads that it is skinless and boneless.
At the top of the pouch it reads "Easy to Open. No Messy Draining!" which is true. There is a yellow dotted line pointing to indentations at the edges of the package indicating where to rip it to open the package. The package rips easily and you can dump the pink salmon right into a bowl or onto a plate. The salmon has a different fish smell than tuna, but it can be argued that the smell is milder than the smell of tuna.
If you prefer to have your pink salmon like a traditional tuna sandwich, then just mix it with mayonnaise, grab two slices of bread, and you're on your way to a quick and healthy meal. Bumble Bee Pink Salmon goes well in a salad also. You can break it into large chunks or break it into small chunks and then mix it through your salad greens and toss in your favorite salad toppings. Another way to prepare your Bumble Bee Pink Salmon is to toss it with pasta and make a pasta salad with it. If you break it into small pieces, it spreads evenly through your pasta and goes well with most dressings or oils that go in a pasta salad.
