I have used tea tree oil for years to treat various maladies. The strangest affliction, I've ever used it for is pink eye. When a friend suggested that I use the oil for pink eye, I was very skeptical. To my knowledge, tea tree oil is a caustic substance, and is for external use only. I knew that putting tea tree directly in the eye would be very dangerous, and could cause damage to the eye or even blindness. How do you apply the oil to eye to effectively treat pink eye?

My friend gave me detailed instructions on how to use the oil to treat pink eye or conjunctivitis. He told me to follow these instructions to the letter. I listened and wrote everything down word for word. I didn't want to make any mistakes! Below are the instructions that were given to me.

The first step is to place a tea bag in a small sauce pan with about a cup of water. You can use a regular tea bag, but I prefer to use green tea. Green tea has some excellent anti-oxidant properties that can help with them healing process. Turn the stove on high and let the water reach boiling point.

After the water reaches the boiling point, take it off of the heat source to let the bag steep in the water and cool. Then, get your bottle of tea tree oil and put 2-3 drops of oil in the water with the tea bag in it. Continue to let the water and tea bag cool.

You want to make sure the water and tea bag is cool to touch. It can still be warm, but it must be cool enough so it doesn't burn the eyelids. It is very important to pay attention to the tea bag temperature because you can cause severe burns to the eyelid and the eye if you're not careful.

After the bag has cooled enough to place on the eye, squeeze out to excess water from the tea bag. Find a place to lie down and set a timer for about twenty minutes. Close your eye and place the tea bag on your eyelid. (If both eyes are infected, prepare two tea bags and put 5 drops of tea tree oil in the water.)

When the timer goes off, take the bag off your eye and through it away. Do not reuse the tea bag. You could reintroduce the infection.

Takeaways
  • Tea tree oil is a caustic substance and is for external use only.
  • It is very important to pay attention to the tea bag temperature because you can cause severe burns
  • If after four days the infection doesn't clear up, I would go visit the doctor.
Did You Know?
My middle son was about 3 years old and it was challenging to get him to be still. I made a game out of it. I told him this was the quiet game, and if he could stay still 'till the timer went off, he would get a prize. It worked beautifully.

have a small number of the mites in my eyes, but it's a very small number. Now and then I feel one in my lashes, and they are also in my nostrils, but every day I treat myself, the mites get fewer and fewer. I won't give up until every last one is gone. It's a war I'm going to win.

Rosacea - my nose was red, like it was sunburned, my chin also for 10 years (after chemo for breast cancer), then in early Feb. my cheeks suddenly turned into hamburger meat with pustules and enlarged pores. EGAD!!! God please help me!!! One night I was in emergency with completely dry eyeballs, could not open my eyes. After going to eye dr, gp, allergist, did research and realized it was demodex rosacea. Drs looked at me with a smirk, none of them knew anything about demodex rosacea - thought I was crazy. My gp did say I had rosacea. Bought tea tree oil, shampoo, moisturizer, soap. I could feel the mites in my eyes wiggling, and in my lashes. Began early march of this year to treat self. Was a war...unbelievable. Treated myself with 50/50 tto/organic coconut oil. My nose cracked and bled, the pustules got worse. My face was a battlefield. I kept on - I was relentless, but so were 'they'. Now it's June - my face is more clear than it was when I was in my 20's. I still
