The original Flying Saucer is located in down town Fort Worth. Residing in a historic two story building, it is an absolute must visit if you are a beer lover. If you plan on visiting on a Friday or Saturday night you should arrive early, since it can be quite the popular venue. There are parking meters all along the street and a pay lot immediately next door, though free parking is available just around the corner on Calhoun St, if you don't mind a short walk.

The ambiance is typical for a beer bar. Seating is plentiful in the downstairs interior bar area with tables and stools. There are also two outdoor patios, one upstairs and one downstairs. If you enjoy Texas music the view of the nearby 8.0 concert stage from the second floor patio is spectacular. Make sure to arrive hours early if a big name act is playing, as many locals recognize this as a prime concert viewing venue.

The school girl clad waitresses are dubbed "Beer Goddesses" and most fit the moniker nicely. They are knowledgeable about the beer they serve, and will gladly answer any questions you might have. The bartenders are always well informed and can help you decide on the beer that best suits your tastes.

Beer selection here is unequalled by anything else in Fort Worth, with the possible exception of The Ginger Man, which is on the other side of the Trinity River. From the typical bland American style pilsner macrobrews (in bottles only) to a $45 Belgian ale, they've got around 70-80 beers on tap, with at least a hundred additional bottled brews: including at least one cask-conditioned ale, several seasonal rotators from the country's best craft breweries, and many exceptional imports on draft. They feature plates (or saucers) all along the walls of the interior, topped by the "ring of honor" promoting those brave souls who have samples 200 different beers, and with the selection available that isn't a challenge.
