Heinz Baked Beans: Food Review
The shopkeeper told me that the reason why the company also imports British food items is because a lot of his regular customers moved to America from the UK, which created a higher demand for British food. There is also a small British community where I live, so this company sells at a more reasonable price than the speciality British shops I have come across.
Heinz Baked Beans are as British as Big Ben, double decker buses and fish and chips. They are also a great treat when you are a British expat craving a can of beans abroad!
The Heinz Baked Beans were sold individually for $1.30. I bought a 24 multi-pack for $24, which turned out to be a saving of $7.20. I did not have to pay any extra shipping tariffs or delivery charges. This is actually the cheapest I have seen and bought Heinz Baked Beans in America. So I was instantly impressed. Heinz Baked Beans are ideal for vegetarians, those who follow a gluten free diet and this is also a low glycaemic index (GI) food item, as they do not contain brown sugar or bacon. A serving of Heinz Baked Beans is nearly 1/3 of an adult's daily intake of salt.
The flavour is milder and more savoury than American style baked beans. Heinz Baked Beans are typically served as a quick, healthy lunch on top of toast, as an accompaniment to a full English breakfast, with bangers and mash, meat pies and in many other ways.
