When reading about Clark's Trading Post in Lincoln, New Hampshire, at first glance it sounds like a typical souvenir shop offering different antiques and collectibles but Clark's is so much more. Set right in the heart of the White Mountains, Clark's Trading Post is like a little village and has a lot to offer for the whole family.

Driving up to New Hampshire, it is possible to see a moose, or other wild animals, but it is rare you will see a bear. At Clark's they guarantee bear sightings with one of their main highlights, "The Bear Show". Each show, running multiple times a day at about a half hour each, features the North American Black Bear. The bears perform a lot of different tricks like riding on a bike or jumping through barrels. The bears are so friendly with the trainers that you'll want to take one home as a pet.

Another big attraction is their White Mountain Central Rail Road. Like the bear show, the train ride is around thirty minutes and transports visitors alongside the Pemigewasset river. The train ride is nice in itself but Clark's adds a little more by setting up the myth of the Wolfman and the train entering his "territory". The kids will get a kick out of the Wolfman, who is really just a hairy old man, and will add fun to the ride if the kids get reckless.

Continuing down the village you will see Merlin's Mystical Mansion. Half of the fun inside here is not knowing what will happen so I will not give too much away, but stopping here is highly recommended along the village.

New Hampshire is known for it's simple old fashioned way of life, and you can see more of this in the Americana Museum and 1884 Fire Station. Seeing the way fires were fought over a hundred years ago is an interesting look at how the technology developed. More of that development can be seen in the Americana Museum along with a history of advertising. It is amazing how prices have risen. Imagine getting a pair of shoes today for less than a dollar, today that will not even buy you the laces!
