There are many methods to calming the nerves, remove tension and to relax one self. Some of these methods include taking prescription medicines that can be costly or not very good for your body in the long run. Understanding how to calm yourself through non medical ways can help you better understand your body and how to cope with stress.

Aromatherapy has been used for centuries in my cultures. Aromatherapy involves the breathing in of certain types of oils for the betterment of a person's moods and/or health. These oils are called essential oils. Essential oils are oils that are extracted from plants.

Essential oils that are used to help one relax and remove stress are commonly used in various ways. You can apply them to a small soft cloth a few drops at a time and breathe them in. Or you can apply them to carrier oils (almond oil, coconut oil, etc) to use as a body rub. You can even add a few drops to an unscented lotion and make a relaxation lotion.

The essential oils you would more then likely use are Jasmine, Lavender, Mandarin, Neroli, Benzoin, Clary Sage, Geranium, Frankincense, Grapefruit, Patchouli, Sandalwood, Rose, Roman Chamomile, Ylang Ylang, and Vetiver. With any essential oil though it is wise to know what you are doing as some oils warn of certain conditions you can not use them with for example, high blood pressure or pregnancy. Research the oils you want to use before using them.

There are various homeopathic medicines on the market that help reduce stress. The plants that nature give us often come with medical properties that help ease away and heal many aliments. A good product to help reduce stress is Hyland's Calm Forte this comes in an adult formula and even a children's formula. Easy to take sweet tasting tablets that you let dissolve under your tongue. Even simply taking a daily multi-vitamin can help ease stress related issues.

This article has got all the different methods of treatment like Aromatherapy, Homeopathy, Acupressure and acupuncture in one breath. All are different, so the title goes wasted. If you can change the title to a general name other than the one used will be nice.

I think these are all great oils for relaxation. I like to use lavender in an oil burner in the living room so when my family gets home, they are coming into a relaxing environment. You can use them for other things too, I just wrote an article about how to create an essential oil cleaning kit, check it out if you are interested.
