In a statement released on Monday, the Click Wine Group announced that during September and October, for every bottle of Fat Bastard Wines sold in restaurants or retail locations in the United States it will donate 25 cents to research into breast cancer treatments and cures, up to a limit of $75,000. Click Wine Group has already raised $225,000 in donations for this cause.

The Fat Bastard wines will be tagged with a necker reading "live large, live long", and there will be attached to the bottles an enamel pink ribbon pin that consumers can wear to show their support for the cause.

Fat Bastard is one of the top-selling French wines in the United States. This journalist has tasted them and personally recommends them.

Fat Bastard wine got its name from its French creator, Thierry Boudinaud, attempting to overcome the French wine marketing problem. It was found from marketing surveys that nearly 75% of adult French wine drinkers find it difficult to understand French wine labels, and American consumers tend strongly to be put off by wine labels that appear to mark their contents as being elitist, overly complex, and having "condescending sounding" names.

Thierry, after having a British friend of his taste the wine after repeated refinement -- his British friend got to taste the first batch of the wine in a wine cellar so cold that the Englishmen quipped, "It's cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey -- decided to name his new, full-bodied wine after a British expression that describes a particularly rich and full wine: a "fat bastard".

The colorful name and straightforward, semi-comedic label have helped Fat Bastard wines get tried more readily than most other French wines, and its flavor has helped the brand get plenty of repeat buyers.

Consumed in moderation, wine has been found by many medical practitioners, dietitians, and chemists to have health benefits including a reduced risk of contracting cancers including breast cancer.

Clever! Also a good deed cause this article will sell wine to raise funds. Can't wait to serve up the Fat B wine at a gathering cause it will get some laughs.
