Earlier this year a sequel to the 1987 cult classic "The Lost Boys" was announced as part of Warner Bros. Direct to DVD feature films. It was unknown if any of the original cast members would return. That was until now.

According to Shock till you drop, Corey Feldman, Corey Haim and Jamison Newlander are all returning for the sequel, entitled Lost Boys 2: The Tribe. In the original film Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander played the Frog Brothers and Corey Haim played Sam Emerson.

On their realty show "The Two Corey's" both Corey Feldman and Corey Haim expressed they would not be returning for the sequel but it seems things have changed. Haim was not asked back at all and Feldman was asked back for a cameo only but originally refused in respect of his friend. Both will be in the film.

Also joining the cast is Tad Hilgenbrink (American Pie: Band Camp), Autumn Reeser (The O.C.), FX legend Tom Savini (From Dusk Till Dawn) and Angus Sutherland, Half brother of Keifer Sutherland who played the lead vampire David in the original film.

Savini had this to say on his part in the film "I'm a surfer who runs into the vampires at the beginning of the film, in a sequence that is shot very Sergio Leone-style [à la the extreme close-up prologue of the director's classic 'Once upon Time in the West".

Also according to Savini is the film will no longer go Direct to DVD and instead go to theaters'

The original film was released in 1987 and was about a group of young Californians fighting off a vicious gang of vampires. The film was directed by Joel Schumacher and Written by Jeffrey Boam, Janice Fischer and James Jeremias. The film was a box office at it's time for an R-rated picture and earned $32 million. The film is a cult favorite with horror fans and is considered one of the best vampire films along with Fright Night and Near Dark.

Joel Schumacher made several attempts in the 90's to get a sequel going with the title "The Lost Girls" but it never officially saw the light of the day. Schumacher will not be returning as director.

I would personally love to see this film! The Lost boys is one of my favorite movies and it would be great to see how they would put this together. Of course it would not come close to the original but I would still be interested in watching.

I was and still am a big fan of the Lost Boys. I am glad to hear that the original cast members will be back for the sequel. Haim and Feldman rock.

I think the movie was never going to be in theatres. I think it was just Savini talking shit. Personally I have little interest in the film now. I just see it being a bad movie.

I can't keep up with the changes on this movie! Wow - talk about Hollywood indecision. And direct to DVD? Bad move - sigh......

Corey Haim is not doing the film anymore. Oh well and it seems the project is still going Direct to DVD.

Coreys are just doing cameos still...with all the negative buzz about the film for the most part, I am doubting any wide theatrical release...but then again crappier movies have happened. www.terrortube.com

WEll hopefully he still teaches it and mentors other young and upcoming GOREHOUNDS! Rick Baker is certainly the tops in some ways - but Savini RULES in terms of out and out GORE HORROR!

I don't think he really did but I don't hear him doing it anymore. He acts mostly.

Savini retire from FX? Say it isn't so! WOW!

I think Savini has pretty much retired from doing FX. That's fine, I dig him as an actor-SEX MACHINE!!

Also - who knows - if LB2 does really well - maybe they will consider doing a TV show spin-off or something... Savini could be a producer or show runner - definitely handle FX for it.

Yeah I just wish Tom Savini was given more films/projects of his own to direct. He did quite well on remake of Night Of The Living Dead - his real talent is make-up and FX - but that was a very nice entry as a director from him.
