If you're like me, I believed when you think about internet dating, you picture geeky-loser types that couldn't get a date with a fist full of fifties. This was a common misconception years ago, but in reality, internet dating is becoming more mainstream, catering to successful and beautiful people. Not to mention that internet dating site's are a multi-million dollar business and growing.
According to the latest census, 44 percent of Americans are single, of which 42 percent has tried online dating. There are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of websites playing matchmaker all over the internet. People are finding love. Some are finding internet dating more challenging, with people not being exactly what they have claimed to be. Another rather interesting statistic is that 72 percent of online daters admit to lying.
Have you ever dated, or at least met, someone online? How truthful were you? Or her. How truthful was she? Did the posted pictures appear to be several years old?
Perhaps a more fitting title would have been; "Have You Ever Been a Bad Internet Date?"
The point I'm making is that there are some pretty juicy stories going on out there. Real life Jerry Springer type stuff and maybe even some success stories too. Perhaps it would be a good idea to find a place where you can relate these experiences and maybe warn someone about the "bad dater" that trolls the dating sites/
Like Kristi writes: I don't have just one story, I have a whole list of losers that I have come into contact with in the four years that I have been "dating."
The stories abound.
