USA Today's Top Scientific Breakthroughs of the Past 25 Years
when people used to think space travel was just a fantasy? Well that was not accomplished within the past twenty five years, but many space related discoveries have occurred. Space related discoveries actually are the most common on USA Today's list of the Top 10 Scientific Breakthroughs in the past quarter of a century. Health discoveries are a close second though with three placing in the top ten.

The number one scientific discovery of the past twenty five years according to the USA Today press release is that fact that the universe is expanding at a accelerating universe, continually expanding. One of the other top ten scientific discoveries of the past 25 years can be used to track that expansion, it is the launch of the Hubble telescope.

Through research into the universe's beginnings scientists have discovered signs of the remnants of the "big bang" itself which is believed by scientists to have been the beginning of the universe. The final space discovery in the top ten scientific discoveries in the past twenty five years is the discovery of planets orbiting stars similar to our own. There are now over 200 of these that have been discovered which are referred to as "exoplanets".
