There never seems to be enough time in the day to scratch everything off of our "To Do" lists; bigger, faster and longer seems to be the new motto of the work world. While energy drinks are a popular choice, more and more people are turning to over the counter products for a quick boost of energy. The downfall of such products is simple; the effects only last a few hours, after which you feel even more drained.

Companies like iSatori, NVE and IndiPharm have all been working on formulations that won't leave you burned out when the effects of the product start to wear off. When I saw the four pack of Energize at my local GNC I decided to give it a try. The very next day I went an purchased an 84 count bottle (suggested retail price $19.99), that was how impressed I was with the results of it. You can purchase Energize at GNV, Vitamin World, select 7-11 stores, CVS and Walgreens. Some stores may ask for you I.D. if you look under the age of 21.

Energize contains the following ingredients: L-Tyrosine, Glucuronolactone, Caffeine, Thebromine, Rhideola Extract, Asian Ginseng Root, Octacosanol. The caffeine is what gives you the energy but the blend of vitamins and herbs are what help you avoid the common pitfalls of other energy drinks and pills. Thebromine is an extract of the cocoa bean; it's hazardous to animals but in humans it works as a stimulant. Asian Ginseng Root is added to combat fatigue but may also have some antioxidant properties. Octacosanol is the most questionable ingredient, it is rumored to help improve endurance and decrease body fat but no clinical trials have found conclusive evidence of this.

Takeaways
  • Energize
  • iSatori
  • Caffeine
