I am a mom

Yes I am

A single mom

Yes I am

I've been through the wringer

Settled into a shelter

Lost a love or two

But hey!

I am a mom

Yes I am

A single mom

Yes I am

I've watched my children take their first steps

Seen their first tooth

There first day of day care

The first day of school

But hey!

I am a mom

Yes I am

A single mom

Yes I am

I have days where I say I want him back here with me

To share these moments

Our children

Yes I will call him and say come back we need you here

Motivating

Encouraging

Supporting

Then I remember you are not the one

Then I remember you can't do that

Then I remember you were never taught that

So you can't be here, just there

But hey!

I am a mom

Yes I am

A single mom

Yes I am

The choices I make are real

They are bigger than just me

There is hope in everything I say and do

The hope that it works

The hope that they hear mommy's wisdom

The hope that they grow to love life

Appreciate life

Smile at life

Enjoy life

Embrace life

But hey!

I am a mom

Yes I am

A single mom

Yes I am

I know what they say

Two kids and no man

What a shame

But I say anyone can have a man

What I need I have yet to find

So for the mean time

I will enjoy my boys, my life, me

Because

I am mom

Yes I am

A single mom who is happy sure and free

Yes I am

And hey!

I love that!
