Naturally, the prerequisite to making money as a look a like, or impersonator, is looking like someone famous. If you Are one of those people who frequently hear " hey you look like........" there is a chance you could earn a very good salary as a look a like or impersonator. Just how much you can earn will depend upon a number of factors. Here are some of them:

Who you look like .... There are certain "characters" that always seem to be in demand , Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presely, Cher , John Wayne, and the like. These would be people who are thought of as " entertainament icons". Then there are other entertainers who are more germaine to and popular this particular moment , for examlpe, Paris Hilton, Anna Nicole Smith, President George Bush. These people are "big news" at the moment. This doesn't mean that someone can not be kept busy impersonating them for years to come, but right now they are probably at the height of thier popularity. Maybe you look like somoene who was once famous but is now associated with the past.: Judy Garland, Liza Minnelli and Ella Fitzgerald are all examples that come to mind. Or do you look like some one who is very popular but on the wane, like Slyvester Stallone? Could you impersonate someone famous who is in the public eye regularly like a sports star, J Lo, Angelina Jolie , Tom Cruise or Nicole Kidman? Obvioulsy, most people are not about to run out and have extensive plastic surgery to impersonate someone famous (although some Are willing to do that) . Most often people accept what and who they look like and enhance that as much as they can with things like styling, make up and hair. Once you begin researching the look a like market a bit, you will get a general sense of how much of a demand is present for whomever it is that you might want to impersonate. In my opinion, it is always worth doing a little reserach because the results may surprsie you. I know of one person who looks like a famous baseball player, now past his prime and retired. This person makes a very healthy salary simply based on the fact that he resembles a sports figure who Used to be famous.

Takeaways
  • New York and LA offer the most opportunities for look a likes
  • Doing "just trade shows" can still be lucrative.
  • Agents that represent look a likes are more open to being approached than other agents.
Did You Know?
