Nintendo definitely had the right idea to jump into the growing phenomenon of purchasing older games. Taking a nod from Microsoft's XBox Live Arcade on the 360, Nintendo created the Virtual Console; allowing Wii owners to purchase gems from a variety of systems, including: TurboGrafx-16, NES, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, and the Nintendo 64. Through their online setup, you can purchase points with a game card or credit card. Afterwards, you can then use those points to buy released games, with prices usually ranging from 400 to 1000 points. There is already a wide assortment of classics available on the system, with Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Donkey Kong Country, and Contra III, among many more, already making their debut earlier in the year. There are many more to come, but below is a list of games that, in my personal opinion, definitely need to make their mark on the Wii Virtual Console; whether it be now or in the early future. R.C. Pro-Am (NES)
Back in 1987 Nintendo and Rare worked together to create an unforgettable racer in the form of R.C. Pro-Am. With great racing mechanics and an easy learning curve, the game was certainly addicting from the start to the checkered flag. The game is actually quite similar to Excitebike, but instead of motor bikes, you control an assortment of what looks like mini monster trucks. Though dated now by today's standards, the visuals and sound were excellent for their time, and the game is still fun to play even after all these years. How do I know? Well R.C. Pro-Am was the first video game I ever played, so naturally it has some sentimental value.
