Why should you color your hair? You don't have to. I don't have to. The truth is that more and more people, not just women but men are coloring their hair today. Why? The sad truth is that gray hair makes you look older. Not too many people can pull it off looking young with gray or white hair. There are some beautiful women and men with white and even gray hair. Men unfortunately are considered dignified or more distinguished with graying hair. Men today are not necessarily satisfied with that image. They want to look younger too. To hell with looking distinguished they want to look young. Our society is obsessed with youth. We all want to look young, vivacious and sexy. You have probably seen a few very sexy looking 80 year olds, well anyway they think they look sexy and young. Fortunately or unfortunately nature or God has a way of playing tricks on us. Maybe it is just a kinder way of God making us unaware of how old we really look. Or maybe it is just denial!

When you see someone and they haven't seen you in a while usually they will say you haven't changed a bit. They will say you look a lot younger than you are. We all want to believe it. I know that they are telling me the truth, they maybe lying to others to make them feel better but they are telling me the truth. Ha! I know though when the gray starts appearing in my hairline though that no amount of sweet-talking will convince me that I look younger than I am. In fact I look older than I am! The sad cruel fact is that gray or white hair makes most of us look old! What is the first thing that they do to actors to make them look older for a part? They gray their hair! I have proof! I was in a movie and they dyed my hair gray. Friends said, boy they really made you look old. I said all they did was dye my hair, the rest is just me! OLD! I couldn't believe it. It is horrifying.

I didn't color my hair for a while and let it grow....It came in, not grey but a lighter brown...weird.

My mother dyed her hair platinum blonde when I was a kid. It made her look like a witch. I couldn't understand why anyone would do that to themselves deliberately. Nowadays, she dyes it light blond. Nobody knows what color it would really be if she didn't dye it.

My husband says if he had any hair he would be happy to have it gray!

I just heard something on the news this morning about how more women are preferring to be gray, and some are even dying it gray to get it over with. Strange!

My father started going gray in her teens; my mother, and HER mother, never got a single gray hair (and my grandmother died at 81). Guess whose genes I got? Well, I do not want to look my age. I will not grow old gracefully, you'll have to drag me there kicking and screaming! The only drawback to coloring your hair yourself is that it's easy to miss parts behind your ears and at the back. My solution: do it with a friend, and do each other! LOL!

I dye, but the grays along my hairline are back within a week. Very rebellious bunch! :0

I'd go with purple like John said. I'm a redhead, we don't go grey - kinda buffish then white. White is cool ;)

I stopped dying mine. Now at 37 I have loads of gray and have decided to leave it.

I don't have to color my hair yet, but I do beause I like the way it looks, but I will never go grey if I can help it. Luckily I have a relative that is a stylist, so I have someone to color it for me regularly :-)

I personally don't do gray but I'm in awe of those who are willing to gray gracefully.
