Amidst a desert of frozen cheese pizzas, which are too plain, and meat-encrusted frozen pizzas which don't suit my diet, DiGiorno's Spinach, Mushroom and Garlic Rising Crust Pizza definitely provides an oasis of vegetarian delight. Ordinarily I make my own vegetarian pizza completely from scratch, which is an enormous amount of effort. At times I make do with a frozen cheese pizza, adding my own vegetarian toppings such as sweet green bell pepper, mushrooms, tomatoes and spinach. But that's still a tremendous amount of work. And the fact remains that on pizza night, I'm not looking to do a lot of chopping and cooking. On pizza night, I'm looking for quick and easy. And quick and easy is precisely what DiGiorno delivers.
Ultimately, this is one of the most delicious pizzas I have ever tasted. Even comparing it to pizza baked by my own hand I have to say it is superior. My whole family scarfed this one down, and if I make only one pizza I usually end up with no leftovers. The only other thing I could have hoped for was a whole wheat crust.
With a price tag of $4.98 at Wal Mart, I felt that this item was a significant value which was well within my budget. It was very comparable to California Kitchen's White Frozen Pizza with four cheeses and spinach. This was about the only other vegetarian pizza I could find on the shelves which wasn't made from plain cheese. Unfortunately, my eldest son wasn't fond of the white sauce, so that pizza was not an option for our family dinners.
I'm the last person who would ever sing the praises of an advertising slogan. However, even I have to say that this pizza is remarkably similar to delivery, as the DiGiorno advertising campaign claims. And since it's dramatically less expensive, and can be picked up in my local Wal-Mart, I find it superior. There's also the added benefit of not having to tip the driver.
