Something happens physically to a child when he or she turns about one a half years old. Terrible twos do not start at two despite what most people will tell you. It's not like on your child's second birthday, all of a sudden, he or she will throw a fit and never stop. It gradually get's up to that point. Terrible twos are not just because the child crys a lot but because the child is all over your house! If you don't have your home completly child proof, you will drive yourself crazy. Chasing around a two year old is a full time job by itself. If you have to work full time and then come home to a crying, energetic two year old, you will have a lot to handle. However, all of us will do it and we don't think twice about it because there is no other way.

Two year olds love to inspect everything and run away with everything. They will run off with your keys without you knowing and lose them in their huge mass of toys in their room. It's hard to keep track of everything you own and expect to lose things several times a day. Two year olds love to inspect and they also love to climb. They will run up and down the length of your couch. It's hard to tell your two year old, "Please get down from the couch," several hundred times each day but we all have to do it. One way to keep your child busy is to find out what he or she loves to do. Does your daughter love to read books or play with cabbage patch dolls? Perhaps your son likes to play with toy vehicles or tractors. You need to find out what your toddler likes to do and keep them occupied doing it.
