I was on a look out for an efficient water timer to manage the summer season. It is a time consuming process to spray water repeatedly during scorching heat. If I fail to irrigate properly my plants get wilted. The lawn looks awkward. Through one of my friends I came to know about Gilmour that has a line of irrigation devices. After going through the reviews I finalized on the Gilmour Electronic Water Timer. Gilmour claims their model 9400 Water Timer to be electronically controlled. But the fact is that it runs on battery. In fact the battery plays the key role. As the names suggest the Gilmour Electronic Water Timer comes with a clock in which you can feed one week's irrigation schedule. This is a user friendly gadget. The area where I am located demands watering thrice per day. So I was searching for a gadget that really suits my requirement. The 9400 Water Timer turned out to be perfect for me. This is equipped with a timer that facilitates you to set up four on/off cycles per day. Another interesting feature is the skip function. I go for this during cloudy days. The skip key enables you to skip the irrigation up to two days. Program the gadget according to your needs. If the soil quality is good and it can retain water for a considerable amount of time than schedule the timer for irrigating once in three days.
Once I got it I am totally relieved from the stress involved in irrigation. I just need to take care of the battery life. If the device is running out on charge it sends an alarm. But the problem is that the alert is feeble. When I used it for the first time I did not even realize that the battery was low in the Gilmour Electronic Water Timer. My advice would be to do a regular check on the battery rather than relying on the beep sound. It is better to be on safer side rather than having a wilted garden. The AA battery is not provided in the kit. You need to get four batteries.
