While stressed out two-family household parents struggle to find quality affordable daycare for their children, well heeled or well pawed animal lovers pay top dollar to provide a stimulating, healthy and sometimes luxurious environment for the canine members of their family. The accommodations for dogs are called doggie daycare centers.

Day care providers for children are among the lowest paid workers in the nation. Doggie day care owners are carving out a lucrative niche providing daycare for the family pet. The basic daily rate for daycare for a small family pet can range from a low of $12.00 to as much as $45.00 per day and up. The cost varies based on the accommodations and location of the doggie day care center.

Mario DiFante, who presented the first Pet Fashion Week in New York puts it this way: "Many of us consider pets as the new babies." That means clothing the furry little ones in an ever-expanding range of sweaters, raincoats, leather jackets, and dresses".

The American obsession with pets also means that pet owners have no qualms about spending additional money finding an appropriate place for Spot to spend the day. Dog owners, like parents feel guilty leaving the family pet unattended. There are also some concerns about chewed up shoes and furniture. But the bottom line is pet owners want the best care for their pets. They are willing to pay top price for anything that the family pooch needs to be happy.

Doggie day care centers offer everything a dog could want or need in the way of a pampered lifestyle. Pet care is available 365 days per year for doggie care. If the pet owner needs to leave the pet over night, there are multi-night sleepovers available. But the dog is not allowed to sleep over alone. The dog is matched with other dogs of similar size and temperament so the pooches can have a kind of doggie slumber party.
