Italy is known for its fashion. Besides the ever-famous Giorgio Armani, Italy also offers many of the world’s top designers, and some that are just becoming well known. Italy’s fashion houses are often a mecca for the rich, and the famous!Renato Balestra:
Renato Balestra has over thirty different collections that range from ready-to-wear to high-end fashion for men. He also makes perfume for men and women, accessories and make-up. Renato Balestra’s fashion has been his greatest success.
Laura Biagiotti:
Laura Biagiotti is especially concerned with making sure the clothes she designs are not only comfortable but is also appealing to those wearing them. Laura is known for making baby doll dresses and pants with elastic, all of which are comfortable yet chic.
Dolce and Gabbana:
Dolce and Gabbana started as assistant designers but decided to start their own business. This business has developed into one of Italy’s fashion powerhouses. Dolce and Gabbana prefer fabrics of lace, wool and silk. With boutiques located throughout the world and clothes made for the rich and famous, Dolce and Gabbana are one of Italy’s most famous design duos.
Gucci:
Still famous today, it is one of Italy’s oldest fashion houses. Opened in 1920, Gucci has become well known today for its fine craftsmanship. Gucci specializes in handbags, shoes and belts.
Missoni:
Starting as a tiny shop by a newly married couple, Missoni has now grown into worldwide leader in fashion specializing in knits. Missoni clothes range from sweaters to dresses and everything in between.
Versace:
With Gianni Versace’s shocking death in 1997, many wondered what would become of this giant’s fashion house. With his sister Donatella at the reigns, Versace has continued to dress the rich and famous. Versace continues to make clothes that are sexy, edgy, and glamorous.
Valentino:
Perhaps one of this fashion houses best-known dresses: Jacqueline Kennedy’s wedding dress when she married Aristotle Onassis. With chains all over the world, Valentino is a true fashion icon.
