Complacency vs Inspiration : Why Obama will win

Recent national polls show Sen. Hillary Clinton with a commanding double digit lead over Sen. Barack Obama for the Democratic Party nomination. Political pundits have touted this horse race as an "experience vs change" battle with the "experience" edge going to Clinton and the "change" edge going to Obama. When all is said and done, however, the platform that sends Barack Obama to the White House will be complacency vs inspiration.

I don't mean to exclude the other candidates, but it certainly seems like it is going to come down to a knock-out fight between Clinton and Obama. At this point, I think the rest of the Democratic candidates are simply jockeying for key roles in the next administration.

There are two barometers that have always been used to judge a candidates viability and popularity among voters at this stage of their campaigns, national polls and the amount of money a candidate can raise from their supporters. Since both candidates took in record amounts of money, there is no clear advantage here. Although, the number of supporters that Obama had contributing to his campaign dwarfed the number of contributors to the Clinton campaign proving that his message is being well received by the average American.

As far as polls go, the polling systems have always taken heavy fire and this election will prove no different. Every camp has a way of touting certain numbers in these polls to make their candidate look like either the strongest candidate or the candidate that is somehow on the move. The biggest problem pollsters have always had is, are they getting the opinion of the people that are actually going to take the time to cast a ballot? The lists they use are based on previous campaigns. Land-line polling also eliminates an enormous polling group that have evolved into the cell phone generation and don't even have a land-line. This young and affluent group is the cornerstone of the Obama camp that has never even been tapped by the pollsters. I think a shocker is in the making.

I'd rather be 'punished' with fifty babies than One Obama at the age of 2008. vote no on proposition "Obama to demean America" on election day. Why would any other nation respect him, when he isn't even worthy of the respect of the nation being handed to him mostly by white kids who are into rap and black culture and want, as a rapper put it, "a revolution Woot woot' Hear this. Minority votes are not enough to give this person the win. It is the college whites who call themselves Open-minded. Well all they are saying that we always vote white, so to be different, or open minded they will vote black. I can tell you, if Obama was a white man and had the garbage associated with him that barack does, no one would vote for him. On paper he is much worse than McCain or even bush. However, the yo mtv raps generation sees this as their place in History. Well I dont' want to be remembered as part of the generation that destroys America.

I can attest to the veracity of the article's second to last paragraph. I am a 49 year old cynic that had never donated to a campaign before, nor been involved at all in a campaign before. Barack Obama has inspired me. I am off my couch, donating to his campaign, blogging for his campaign and volunteered to be an usher at the Rally for Change he had recently in Arizona. I believe him when he says change starts with just one voice. At this point in my life I'll take inspiration over complacency any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

What I say to those who fear to vote for Obama is, stop being afraid. Stop letting fear control your life. Vote with your heart. Vote to make a difference. Vote as if your life and soul depends on it, because it does. If Obama is willing to stand up for you, will you not be willing to stand up for him in return?

I spent all weekend canvassing for Barack, along with 20 others in my group. None of us had been involved politically before and some were old, some young, various races. We wouldn't be polled. We spoke to hundreds of voters, registered Dems, and didn't find a single solid Hillary supporter. Some waffled back and forth between Obama and Hillary and our appearance seemed to make a difference. I personally got three pledge cards for Obama, which was the average per person. To me, it seems the polls are waaaay off base. If people weren't excited by Obama, they were totally undecided and hadn't done the research yet, in every single case. If they haven't come around to Hillary yet, they aren't going to, as once they hear obama's words and learn of his actions, they'll be in his camp and walking door to door with us.

It is those decent Americans that are working so hard for the Obama campaign and if the majority of Americans are decent he has a good shot at winning.

Senator Obama believes the majority of "American people are decent". In Jena Louisiana, black students are not allowed to sit under a tree on school property. When some students did, three nooses in school color were hung on the tree the next morning. When the parents complained, the black students were told by the city DA that he could "ruin their lives with the stroke of a pen". And daggnabbit he did just that. Obama is not a shoe-in for the seat, simply because the KKK is alive and kicking and white racists will vote for anyone but him. Many blacks will not vote for him, because they fear he will be assassinated if elected.
