I am often shocked when I watch bridal shows on TV, and find out that brides paid thousands and thousands (sometimes tens of thousands) of dollars for their wedding dresses. My wedding dress was $250, marked down from $899, further marked down from $1200. I loved it. It fit almost perfectly off the rack, and was just what I was looking for. My mom was able to do any needed alterations, and she was also able to fix the couple of button covers that had fallen off of the buttons. (they gave us an extra 5% discount for the button covers, and also cleaned the dress for us before we purchsed it, as it had a smudge on the train from where it had been tried on) It was purchased at a bridal discount store. We got an additional 20% off for opening a credit card with the company (we paid it off, then never used the card again). No, it wasn't a designer original, or pure silk. But it was lightweight, comfortable, beautiful, and perfect for me! No one should have to settle when it comes to their wedding dress, but there are ways to get the look you want much more inexpensively.
