If you have ever been on a diet, and most people have, then you know how great it is when you can find one of your favorite snack products in a low calorie form. Leading the pack with these low calorie treats is Nabisco. Some of the 100 calorie packs that are offered by Nabisco include Chips Ahoy cookies, Oreo cookies, Lorna Doon cookies, and Wheat Thins, Cheese Nips, and Nutter Butter cookies. Nabisco's newest offer to the 100 calorie pack snacks are a series of chewy granola bars. I have had the opportunity to taste the Chips Ahoy Chewy Granola Bar 100 calorie snack.

Appearance

The 100 calorie chewy granola bars come in a pack of six. The boxes are similar in size to the other granola bars that rival company Quaker offers. But upon opening the package I was quite disappointed. The bars weight a total of 28 grams compared to regular the Quaker 90 calorie bars that weight 24g. Even though Nabisco granola bars are thicker they look like a third of the size of Quaker's granola bar line. And as everybody knows when dieting sight is an extremely important factor. I have found through non scientific research, meaning my own dieting habits, that when you think you are eating something large you are less inclined to eat more.

The bar looks like any other chocolate chip granola bar, although much smaller. It looks to consist of granola, marshmallow, and lots and lots of tiny chocolate chips.

Taste

Upon first taste Nabisco's 100 Calorie chewy granola bars are extremely sweet. In fact they are a little too sweet. But continued chewing leaves a very bitter taste in your mouth. I would liken the taste to that of burnt marshmallows. On the upside the bars are extremely chewy. These Chips Ahoy granola bars taste absolutely nothing like Chips Ahoy cookies or even the Nabisco 100 calorie Chips Ahoy snack packs (which taste remarkably like Chips Ahoy cookies). Even though the bars are riddled with chocolate chips there is unfortunately no chocolate taste. After finishing the bar I was left with a bitter taste in my mouth, a scratchy feeling at the back of my throat, and about three missing dollars from my wallet.

Good review. I have tried a few of the products, but not the chips ahoy. Sounds like I shouldn't bother.
