Mosquitoes main breeding grounds focus on areas that hold or have water standing. As a homeowner you should walk around your yard and remove any standing water to limit breeding areas for mosquitoes. Check flower pots, children toys and other objects that are around your yard and make sure they don't hold water.
If you're tired of going outside and getting bit by mosquitoes you should put on protect ant that has cutter or deet as an ingredient. However, these are only temporary relief methods and most of the time doesn't keep mosquitoes away.
Citronella candles work at keeping mosquitoes away but not always. With all the species of mosquitoes some just don't respond to the repellent as they should. However, if you can place the citronella candles within the area that you're occupying then you can battle the mosquitoes for the space. Place the citronella candles in a square depending on the area that you're in. It's best to use citronella candles late in the evening when mosquitoes are out looking to bother you and your family.
Homeowners can also by yard mosquito killer that provides a temporary relief, but must be spread every 7-15 days. You can find these products at any home improvement store or any major department store. All of the products are about the same so shop around and find a deal on a mosquito product to use in your yard.
One item that mosquitoes hate is garlic. Some say eating garlic will keep mosquitoes away, but that's just a myth. There is no real evidence that garlic will repel mosquitoes. There are some garlic barrier sprays on the market that work, but again you must spray every few weeks. A gallon of garlic barrier spray costs around $90.00 and will last during a mosquito season.
