Mosquitoes main breeding grounds focus on areas that hold or have water standing. As a homeowner you should walk around your yard and remove any standing water to limit breeding areas for mosquitoes. Place the citronella candles in a square depending on the area that you're in. It's best to use citronella candles late in the evening when mosquitoes are out looking to bother you and your family.

Homeowners can also by yard mosquito killer that provides a temporary relief, but must be spread every 7-15 days. You can find these products at any home improvement store or any major department store. All of the products are about the same so shop around and find a deal on a mosquito product to use in your yard.

One item that mosquitoes hate is garlic. Some say eating garlic will keep mosquitoes away, but that's just a myth. There is no real evidence that garlic will repel mosquitoes. There are some garlic barrier sprays on the market that work, but again you must spray every few weeks. A gallon of garlic barrier spray costs around $90.00 and will last during a mosquito season.
