Salsa dancing is increasingly becoming more popular and addicting. Dancers of all ages and backgrounds can easily enjoy this energetic, lively, and sensuous, latin dance form. If you live in the Boston area there are lots of opportunities to Salsa Dance.

If you've never Salsa danced before you're in for a real treat. There is a basic core rhythm to learn and some easy footwork that goes with it. Once you learn that you are ready to embellish your steps and get fancy! Salsa dancing is usually done with a partner but can sometimes be adapted to solo dancing or even group dancing. Many classes do not require partners to learn and encourage swapping of partners in the class to help you perfect your leading and following skills. If you are looking for a class that also includes other latin dance forms such as Merengue and Bachata, The Cambridge Center for Adult Education has a few classes for adults. Their classes run for two months, the fall "term".

For more experienced dancers a dance studio might be a more challenging way to learn. Supershag in Waltham MA offers Salsa classes for all levels and plenty of social opportunities to practice. Another ballroom studio offering latin style dance in the Boston area is the Fred Astaire Dance Studio located at 179 South Street. They offer a large variety of ballroom classes in addition to Salsa and Latin, and you can take privately or in group sessions.
