Juanita Bynum Joins Celebs Christina Applegate, and Christina Aguilera in Tragedy of Domestic Abuse as She is Assaulted by Estranged Husband Thomas W. Weeks III

Domestic Abuse Reaches the Church

Juanita Bynum, Christina Applegate, and Christina Aguilera have more than celebrity status in common. They all play a part in ending domestic abuse. Atlanta police reports that Thomas W. Weeks III, the founder of Global Destiny churches, met with estranged wife Prophetess Juanita Bynum at Renaissance Concourse Hotel near Atlanta's airport to try to reconcile. Instead of reconciling, he brutally assaulted her.

According to the http://www.endabuse.org website, "Celebrities have a powerful influence on our culture. We admire famous actors, athletes, musicians and other public figures. What does it mean, then, when they fail as role models, when they batter their partners, and we as a culture continue to admire them and pay to see them perform? What does it mean when a company continues to use a known batterer as its celebrity spokesperson? When a violent actor is written about and cast as a heartthrob? When a singer beats his girlfriend, and his next love song reaches number one on the charts?"

Well wishes and comments on Prophetess Juanita Bynum's Myspace page, http://www.myspace.com/officialjuanitabynum, were not available. But, her fans had this to say on other internet message boards.

"...in every church that I have attended counseling is actually recommended if someone is having an issue. Most churches have counseling ministries and I have even known some to recommend clinical counseling when they have felt that the person has needed it.

In addition, I have never heard a Pastor say that God will make your troubles go away. In fact, it is stressed that you WILL have trials. The key is that you have faith that you can get through it. That's actually what the Bible says as well."
