I have always been a fan of TIGI Bed Head hair products; however they tend to have extremely high prices, and I can only purchase them when I have spare cash...which is close to never.

When I saw that they had their 2 ounce bottle of Girl Toys Shine Serum on sale for only $8.00 I figured it was the deal of a lifetime, seeing how this little 2 ounce bubble bottle usually retails for almost $15.00 everywhere else.

Packaging:

The bottle is an odd shaped bubble. It's base where the shine serum sits is blue with the words bed head written across it in silver, and the lid pump is a lime green. It honestly is easy to miss, because it is a very small bottle.

To apply you simply pump a small amount into your palms and fluff it into your hair. I have used shine products before, and a word of caution is to use sparingly. Even if you have long hair; by using too much shine serum you could end up with flat, greasy hair. Not a pretty sight, and most hair amateurs always use too much, and end up hating the product.

For best results only shine up your ends and the middle of your hair...don't ever apply it to the scalp area, or you will end up looking like you haven't bathed in quite some time.

My hair:

Some shine products are not for everyone, but seeing how I have thick hair I can pretty much use anything. My hair is naturally wavy, and thick, so applying shine serums has never been a problem for me.

I do not recommend this product to chicks with pin straight thin hair. You'll just end up with flat greasy looking hair, however those with thin hair who want to try it should use the itty bittiest of squirts, and apply it by gently rubbing your hair down, starting from the middle to the ends. Do not apply any more than that. One small thin coat is more than enough.

My results:

I applied sparingly to the ends and middle of my hair because... I knew better. The serum is semi runny, yet not to the point where it will make a mess. The formula will feel a tad bit greasy when you rub it into your palms...don't worry though, your hair will absorb it like a towel, and it will not look or feel greasy if you apply it right.

In that case, I'll stick with the cheaper brands. I like the Fructis line a lot and it's very afforadble. Thanks for the warning on this one, Melissa! :) MZ
