The summer is almost over and many families traveled. They used various forms of transportation including airplanes, cars, boats, buses, and trains to name a few. As a whole, travelers were pleased with their travel experience. This was revealed based on a new quarterly index developed by Ipsos Public Affairs, which is an independent global research company. The index is called "The Traveler Frustration Index", and this was the first quarter in which the results were revealed. They were revealed in a press release by Access America, which is one of the world's leading providers of travel insurance.

The Traveler Frustration Index was designed to measure the frustrations of travelers over a wide variety of travel-related categories according to the press release. Some of these issues included costs involved with travel, security concerns, and service levels. The index was based on a survey of over 1,000 adults which had traveled for either business or leisure over the past three months according to the press release. The score for this first issuance was a 4.09 out of 10, and indicates a relative satisfaction in travel experience.

While the overall results were viewed as positive by Beth Godlin who is Executive Vice President for Access America, according to the press release, there was room for improvement as travelers were highly frustrated by certain travel aspects. Seventy eight percent of travelers surveyed were not happy with the price of gasoline as they felt at least some sense of frustration. More than half (54%) of the survey members responded that they were aggravated with airlines or the service they received at airports. Some specific complaints included lost luggage, delays, poor food, and lack of space on airplanes. Just under half the people surveyed (48%) felt that the cost of travel was a source of frustration.
