How to Make Striking Classroom Posters

Special Tips to Teaching Even the Most Bored Students

With the new school year in full-bloom around the nation, it is time for teachers to step it up a notch and let the creativity flow. Years of education to become a teacher was hopefully beneficial to all teachers however there are some needed tips when it comes to creating a classroom.
If only decorating classes were required for teachers before graduation.

Although I was a straight A student, I was constantly staring off into space in deep contemplation. One of my most favorite things to look at throughout the long days in school while sitting in a hard chair was the posters that changed every few weeks. It was great excitement each time a new poster ended up in the side or back of each classroom. So, why not work with the students short attention spans such as myself and work with creative poster making.

Here are some tips to keep those posters catching the eyes:
1. Get organized: Since kids are usually looking toward the posters more than listening, why not work with what you are given. Try organizing what you are going to be teaching that week into a few categorizes. Then, make sure that when you begin your posters make the main vocal point the learning lesson of the week. Express the key ingredients to your important lessons with bullets and large fonts.

2. Eye-catching Visuals: One important lesson I learned while in advance college marketing was that "blank white" is better. This means, you do not have to splash your creativity over the entire poster - use key visuals. Try using a few graphics on the poster that you know your students will look at. For instance, use cartoon characters or wacky letters to spark there interest.

3. Non-Vertical Hanging: Many people try to get perfect symmetry in all the posters available on the boards in a room. As an esteemed poster watcher, I know that symmetry is boring. Try placing all the posters in different directions. For instance, once can be upside down, one can be crooked to the right and one to the left. It is all about getting attention.
