The excitement and anticipation bubbles with each new appointment. Granted, you could do without the peeing in the cup part, especially as your belly grows and you have difficulty maneuvering or seeing over it. Yet none the less, you are putting your life and the life of your unborn child in the hand of a trained and educated professional in the field of Obstetrics. You are putting your faith in their capabilities, and in doing so, you expectation is that they are qualified for the job for which you are entrusting them with.
My story starts with my first pregnancy. We had been wanting a baby and had only started trying for a couple of months and low and behold, we were pregnant. At the time there were only 2 OB/GYN's in the area. I went choose the newer one. He was supposedly very good at what he did and very specialized in his profession. The fact that he did not have rights at the local hospital to deliver should have been an indication as to what I was getting myself into. However, thrilled will the idea of being pregnant and not overly impressed with my other option for an OB, I decided to stick with him.
Through out my pregnancy there were signs that he was incompetent, but being a first time mother to be, I did not notice them. I trusted that my doctor knew what he was doing, I had not done this before so I did not know any different. As I reflect back now, I see there were indications that I should have noticed. Here are some examples of what I dealt with while pregnant with my son.
