Over 6 years ago we went to our Wal-mart Superstore, and purchased a Black & Decker Toast-R-Oven, it is till working great, and looks like new.

I was tired of the old pop up toaster playing up. It was fine if we only wanted 2 slices of toast, but if we wanted more it made this horrible rattling noise, and refused to work.

I had used my friend's toast-r-oven before and found it to work great.

Why did I need this at well as a regular oven?

It does a whole lot more that toast.

Broiler.
It is perfect for my cheese on toast. Instead of using my large oven for 1 slice of toast, I was able to use this perfectly compact machine. It is great for finishing off my cauliflower cheese. I love to cook bacon and tomatoes this way too. Every night I eat a grapefruit. They can be a little on the sour side, so I cut into the segments, sprinkle sugar on the top and then pop them under the broiler until the top is a little crispy.

Oven.
This is wonderful for baking potatoes, cooking biscuits, cookies and small cakes. I had tried to bake a cake in the microwave once, and it came out soggy. The reason I tried it was to prevent the heat created from using the large oven. Here in Florida we only switch on the oven when we have too. The house is always warm, so using the toast-r-oven will definitely save on air-conditioning.

Toaster.
The inside is surprising roomy. No problem in toasting 4 slices at a time. Great for frozen waffles, English muffins, and bagels. With the height capacity there is no pushing and squeezing to get into the slots of a regular toaster.

The TRO400 model has a glass door with a handle. When opened it lays down on the counter in front of the oven. It has a broil rack that pulls out for cleaning. An oven pan for cooking food in and allso a slide rack that fits neatly into the oven pan.

At the right top are the oven controls. Very similar to a large oven with the temperatures and also the broil feature.

Middle is the 'start toast' button.

Then below is the toast color setting.

in college we used to cook roasts in toaster ovens in the bathroom because in the dorm room it would blow the circuits. :)

Great review. I've thought about buying a toaster oven. This is really cheap! Sophie
