Missing Texas Nursing Student Simply Vanished

Two Weeks Later and Still Nothing

Just about 40 miles north east of San Antonio Texas and running alongside the winding Guadalupe River is the Gruene Outpost River Lodge, a quiet and relaxing outpost for people to spend a fun weekend or an extended stay. When Jessica Birge, a 25 year old nursing student at the University of Texas at San Antonio and some friends spent the day tubing at the Gruene Lodge, she went in two weeks ago looking to have a good time. She hasn't returned.

"It's as if she just fell off the face of the earth," said Ms. Birge's mother, Cyndi Waechter. Ms. Birge was last seen wearing a pink bikini and has a very distinct cherry blossom branch tattoo on the back of her neck.

A friend of Ms. Birge said the family was still frantically searching for the student and that it was very uncharacteristic of the personality of the young woman to just not contact family. She has been missing since August 11, 2007 around 10PM leaving the Gruene Outpost River Lodge in New Braunfels, Texas.

Ms. Birge was seen driving away from the River Lodge in a dark green 2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara, license plate K99-RNX. She has red hair, brown eyes, is five feet seven inches tall and weighs approximately 130 pounds. Jessica Birge is Caucasian.
