There is a whole range of different PC's out there, and catering for the budget types ALL the way up to the hardcore gaming types and that is one of the advantages normal consoles do not have. You can get a cheap gaming PC for around $AU600 and it will do everything you want it to do, surf the net, Internet banking, word processing and light gaming, albeit the quality of gaming wouldn't be as eye-popping as a $AU2000 machine but still there is a PC for every price range. Furthermore, a PC is more than just a gaming machine so you are actually investing in machine that doesn't go out of phase unlike the many obsolete consoles that are gathering dust in my garage. If you want to increase your eye candy, you can simply go and upgrade it, no need to get a whole new one. This is certainly not true for many consoles as end-user modifications are strictly prohibited and for the PC provided that you did not purchase a pre-built PC every individual component (eg CPU, RAM, graphics card etc etc) has its own warranty.
