Ms. Feehan is a truly addictive author. She has a knack for creating wonderful storyline, mixing them with dangerous situations and far from normal characters.
In the past month I've been on a Feehan kick, and I've slowly been working my way through the pile on my to be read shelf, picking out her books and enjoying them. Deadly Game has proven to be equally enjoyable, and is part of the 'Game' series that she released through Jove's paranormal suspense line, part of the Penguin publishing group.
We met Jack Norton in a pervious book, and his love/mate Briony. In Deadly Game we focus on the other half of the Norton team. His twin brother Ken. During the introduction to the twins we learned that Ken was tortured by the same man who tortured Jack, but the humiliations Ken endured left him scared for life with injuries that he thought would prevent him from ever being able to enjoy the touch of a woman. The scars that criss cross his body also cover his penis and testicular sack. Leaving him covered with painful ridged scar tissue.
But there is a woman for Ken, another of the missing enhanced psychic women, Marigold or Mari. Twin sister to the now heavily pregnant Briony.
The book begins with a mission to protect a politician from an assassination threat. The same politician whose downed plane led to the capture and torture of the Norton twins, but the operation takes an unexpected and dangerous turn when Mari is injured and taken hostage by the Norton's team.
Sparks instantly fly between Mari and Ken, they, like others before them, are destined mates. Their pheromones and bodies reacting to each other regardless of if they are ready for it or not, but the man behind the experiments on these men and women is unwilling to leave Mari in the hands of the Ghostwalker team. She's part of his breeding program and even if she wants to remain with Ken, she won't be given that option. There are other women still in the secret base, and he will use them as a way of controlling Mari.
