Mobile Dating Services

A New Way to Date

Recently, I learned about a brand new way to meet people and to perhaps date. We all have hard of the Internet dating services and the phone dating services. However, you can now date or at least check out potential dates via a cell phone. So how does this work?

The services are called mobile dating services, or cell phone dating. There are several companies that offer this service. Two of the most prevalent ones are match.com and zozo.com. Sprint is also cashing in on this new trend. Services can cost as much as $20 s month
to nothing at all. I was a little skeptical of how the service works. It doesn't sound to safe to give your cell phone number out to perfect strangers. However, upon further research, i discovered it is perfectly safe to use a mobile dating service.

The first step in the process of mobile dating is to register with whomever your chosen provider of the service is. You will fill out a question sheet either through the mail, on line, or you can register through your cell phone listing your preferences, such as location, job, looks, and religion. The fastest way to register is on the Internet. You will then be placed in the dating services web base for other potential daters to check out. When you decide that you are ready to look over profiles, and possibly find a date, you text the service to let them know that you are in the market for a date. They will ask for your location and state to find someone near where you live. You will then search profiles to find a potential date. Either you contact the person or they contact you. All the potential person will be given is your handle or name that you have created. Then the texting begins. The person never knows your cell phone number. The texting is done through a secure gateway with the mobile dating service. All they will have access to is your basic profile, and your general location, so in New York. The specific area will not be given out by the service provider. Looking at this information, it seems like a pretty safe way to hunt for a potential date.

I find text messaging a total waste of time--taking several times as long to write out a message as it would take you to verbally say it. I have even contacted my cell phone provider to see about disabling the reception of text messages on my phone. They say it's impossible, but a friend of mine is working on that problem right now. Time will tell.

Hey, I saw this on American Inventor last season! The guy didn't go to the final round, but this was his idea. I wonder if he has his hand in any of this.
