I have always been fairly color blind; but in the wake of instances like 911 and Jena6, I have found myself considering the different colors and races of people both in America and throughout the rest of the world.

For those of you who are not familiar with Jena6:

In the town of Jena La.- Reed Walters, the District Attorney took it upon himself to twist and distort the justice system to his own ends.

Jena La. is an extremely small town that is accused of regularly terrorizing its black citizens. 3 white students made a terroristic threat to some black students by hanging three nooses from a "Whites Only," tree on school property. The school principal wanted to expell NH3 {Noose Hangers 3} for the rest of the school year. The Lassalle Parrish School Board laughed about the incident and gave the 3 students a three days in school suspension. No charges were ever filed for "Inciting Violence."

One white student actually pulled a gun on three black students. The black students wrestled the gun away from him and fled to safety. Later the black students were charged with, "Theft of a firearm." The white student {Who in any court of law should have been easily convicted for "Brandishing a Firearm"} was not even charged.

One black student was brutally beaten by an adult with a beer bottle. The adult was charged only with simple assault and shortly released.

Then a white student was taunting and antagonizing a black student. That's where the story becomes a he said she said mess. Some say that it was Justin Barker who was hurling the racial insults and inciting violence. Other accounts say that Mr. Barker and his girlfriend were eating their lunch quietly in another part of the school. In any event- at some point Mr. Barker was punched from behind and was knocked flat out cold. Someone kicked him. They took him to the hospital but he was released in less than 2 hours because he was not hurt. Later that night he gave a stage presentation in a ring ceremony.

There is no law against someone being a jerk. Maybe these kids were jerks. I don't know because I didn't know them. But there is a law against wrongful prosecution- malicious prosecution- SELECTIVE prosecution- and abusing the legal system to one's own ends. Thanks for posting ;)

The authors of our legal system understood this inconvenient little concept called COINCIDENCE. That is why it is very rare to be convicted on circumstantail evidence. Suppose for a second that you are wearing blue jeans, a black T shirt and a pair of tennis shoes. You go into a convenient store and go to the Men's room. While you are in the bathroom- a white guy enters the store also wearing blue jeans a black T shirt and a pair of tennis shoes. He robs the store and kills the clerk. 10 wittnesses across the street see a white guy wearing blue jeans and a black T shirt shoot the clerk. No one sees him exit thru the back door. You come out of the bathroom and exit the store- unaware of what just happend- as the police arrive. Of course you would say that you didn't do it- so should the evidence presented be enough to convict you? Or should you be given the benefit of the doubt until your guilt is absolutely proven?

I gathered all the information in my articles directly from the Jena Times and the Alexandria. Do I agree with the pics posted on the MySpace pages of the defendants involved? No- I sure don't. My only points- 2 of them- are now- always have been- and always will be> 1) THE LACK OF EVIDENCE AND CONVICTING SOMEONE ON CONFLICTING TESTIMONY. 2) THE CHARGES- on the one hand you have MINOR CHILDREN- being charged AS ADULTS-with ATTEMPTED MURDER- when NO ONE WAS HURT. "It is better that 10 guilty men go free, than for one innocent man to be punished." Ben Franklin Yet it seems that the direction that Americans are leaning toward is to "PUNISH EVERYONE ON CIRCUMSTANTIAL HOGWASH- CALL IT EVIDENCE- AND WHO CARES ABOUT THE PROTECTION OF INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS BECAUSE EVERYONE KNOWS THEY DID IT ANYWAYS." Well Brother- I DON'T CARE IF THEY DID IT OR NOT- PROTECT THE RIGHTS OF THE MAJORITY- GIVE THEM DUE PROCESS- AND IF YOU CAN'T FOLLOW JURISPRUDENCE- WELL, RECKON YA GOTTA GET THEM

ct'd 4. There was no "terroristic threat" to the Jena 6 by the DA, that's ludicrous. He gave a speech in an assembly at the auditorium telling them not to do anything stupid and that violence would not be tolerated, and said "I can end your lives with the stroke of a pen, so you come see me before you do something stupid." I've talked to several people who were there and they've verified this. 5. I could go on and on about the inaccuracies of this story, but I'm sure you've figured some of them out by now, it's been a year since this article was written.

Other responses to your article: 1. It's J.P. Mauffray, not Mccaffrey 2. Tennis shoes HAVE been used as a lethal weapon in a court case, and was proven in a court of law. It was also used in ANOTHER case where 4 black individuals in the Bronx kicked a guy. Al Sharpton was there to defend them, while speaking of how insane it is to use sneakers as a weapon in the Jena 6 case under the same breath. 3. LaSalle Parish has 13,000 people TOTAL, so the fact that some people on the jury "knew" the judge or people involved in the case is almost impossible to go around. Bell's first lawyer should have applied for a change in venue. And remember that Bell's lawyer was an African American! 4. There was no "terroristic threat" to the Jena 6 by the DA, that's ludicrous. He gave a speech in an assembly at the auditorium telling them not to do anything stupid and that violence would not be tolerated, and said "I can end your lives with the stroke of a pen, so you come see me before you do

ct'd More inaccuracies. Mr. Barker was seen by at least 6 witnesses as being punched from behind. "SOMEONE" DID NOT KICK HIM!! EIGHT BLACK STUDENTS were pegged at the scene as kicking Barker by eye witnesses. Robert Bailey was pegged by TWELVE PEOPLE, Mychal Bell 6, Theo Shaw 5, Carwin Jones 3. That's NOT "someone kicking him". That is a gang assault! It does not matter how bad he was injured. No one was injured when the nooses were hung, yet many Jena 6 defenders still feel keen on forcing jail time on the individuals who did it. In the midst of pointing out the "racial flaws" of a small town, many of you Jena 6 reporters have proved your own biases in the process!!

Just gonna respond to this excerpt. It's funny to me how the most incriminating part of this case to the Jena 6, you make sure and give hazy details about. Actually, the whole Jena 6 incident is a "he said she said mess" but when about 20 students!! all fill out witness statements describing a strikingly similar crime, one is forced to paint an obvious picture: Barker was gang assaulted by the Jena 6 while unconscious.Speaking of the "he said she said mess"..did you know Carwin Jones' statement to the police said "I did not hit him". And Mychal Bell's had DETAILS about how he was trying to HELP Barker, but now, if you'll look at the recent CNN interview, he's saying "uhh..I hit him...so what...." He shows NO remorse for it. Why? Because everyone is supporting their violent actions.

Allisa- The article was meant to be crazy. If you didnt get that from the article- then you missed the entire point of it. The stupidity asserted in this article was meant to exploit the stupidity of differentiating people due to race {In this case- but on any terms really} or group identitiy simply because of that group identity. The only race that we as people should concern ourselves with is the HUMAN RACE- and the survival there of. Thanks you for posting ;).

I think that his record don't matter right now . i think that everyone in this is guilty. it is not a black or white thing. the boys should of never hung the ropes. u don't no how ignorant that was and how it made those boys feel. that baker boy is far from innocent. mychal should not have done what he did but he let the anger get to him unstead of seeing the ignorrance and i do believe that he should be freed. the baker boy was not as hurt as he pretended to be, because if he was he should not have attended his schools party or whatever it was. everyone has to remember these are children and it was better to fist fight then to pull out a gun

Cousins- I whole heartedly disagree- but thank you for posting. I'll have a full update and some articles from the Jena Times that I've been researching up shortly. Again- ALL opinions are welcomed in my forums as long as it is clean and respectful. Thanks again =D.

Mychal Bell's already lengthy rap sheet clearly indicates that he's a bit of a punk, and he deserves to be precisely where he is right now--behind bars. Here's a hearty note of congratulations to prosecutor Reed Walters for a job well done.
