Judgment Day; The John List Story is the story of how John List killed his three children, his wife, and his mother in 1971 and eluded police until 1989. John was sentenced to 5 consecutive life terms for his crimes. This is their story. But there is still some part of the mystery to be discovered.

John Emil List was born September 17, 1925 in Bay City Michigan to John Frederick and Alma List, both of German descent, and whom would be their only child. Right from the start this little boy had his issues. They had only been together a year when little John came along. The family was Lutheran and attended the German Lutheran Church. His father ran a local mom and pop store and wasn't exactly a popular man within the community. He didn't like children, and made no attempt to hide it. It wasn't that he just didn't like other folks children, he didn't even really give a spit about his own son. He rarely spent any time with John, not even participating in raising him, and even referred to him as 'The Boy.' He was overly protected by his mother who forced him to move within her social circle instead of his own, as the other children could turn him against God. Her social circle was entwined within the church , and even his father was church trustee and treasurer. Alma truly wanted little John to follow in his fathers footsteps. It was a noble profession and he could someday easily provide for a family of his own. Since he had no friends it wasn't hard to keep him inside and dressed up to keep him warm and dry. He didn't even have his own bedroom within the walls of the beautiful Victorian home that they lived in. Instead he slept in the parlor where he could easily be seen, but he had no privacy.

Takeaways
  • John List always refers to himself in third person.
  • John claims he fulfilled his fathers request to take care of his mother and not let her suffer.
  • John List does accounting work for the prison.
Did You Know?
Detective Jeffery Paul Hummel took the crime scene photos to psychic Elizabeth Lerner in May 1985. She came back with amazingly accurate information.

tHAT WAS A GREAT ARTICLE, IT TOTALLY PULLED ME INTO READING IT, ( i AM NOT BRENDA LIST) I am also curious of what happened to Brenda, I would guess that she did not want to be harrased by reporters and the like, and may have changed her name alltogether. It had to be a very painful episode in her life.
