If you plan on going abroad to South America to live in Argentina for a short period you will most likely need to get a short term visa for your self and your dependents to make your stay in the country a legal one. There are different types of short term visas for short stays in Argentina and depending on the length of time you will be in the country and the purpose of your visit you may not even need a visa at all to come to Argentina to live for a short period of time. Student visas are a common type of short term visas that are available in Argentina. Typically a short term student visa is issued to students that will not be participating in a long term program of study. Usually students that need a short term student visa are coming to Argentina as part of a foreign exchange program or a study abroad program with a college or university that they are attending in their home country. A short term student visa can be applied for by either the student or the university where the student will be studying.
