Frito Lay is one of the kings of snack foods and for good reason, they know what sells. Their Dorito line has more than a few flavors to choose from; if you want spicy, they have it, if you want something mild, they have that too. The Collisions series takes some of the best in snack food flavors and combines them. When I saw the bag at my local convenience store I had no idea what they would taste like or how they were packaged. Did one side have the Hot Wing flavor and the opposite the Blue Cheese? Was the bag divided inside? Were both flavors combined? I couldn't wait to get home and rip the bag open but I was a little disappointed when I did.

To end the mystery, the Doritos Collisions assortment is nothing more than a handful of Hot Wing chips mixed in with a handful of Blue Cheese chips. I'd previously had the Spicy Nacho flavored Doritos so I knew that the Hot Wings flavor was probably going to pack a punch, I was right about that. The Blue Cheese chips were nice but if you are a Blue Cheese lover, chances are there isn't going to be enough flavor in them to satisfy you. I am assuming that there is an even distribution of each flavor in the bag so you can have one of the spicy ones then one of the smoother ones to cool things off. I am sure everyone will have their own game plan on how to tackle these.

The bags come in a 2 and 5/8 ounce size for .99 cents but when I checked the Frito lay website, they made mention that they were also available in larger sizes. I haven't seen either size in my local grocery store yet but I am sure they will end up working their way into the snack food aisle at some point in time. Is this something that I would purchase again? At .99 cents a bag, probably not. You go through them too quickly and the bits that end up at the bottom are all smashed up. When the larger bags arrive, chances are I will stock up on the Hot Wings / Blue Cheese combo for parties and late night snacking.

Those little bits of gold sound good, and convenient since there's no salsa required.

I never heard of those kinds of Doritos. I will have to try them. I am a blue cheese lover too! And for hot wings... the hotter the better. I will be glad to try this new brand of chip to see if it is as good as all the others.
