According to a recently published State of Missouri Governor's press release, Missouri Governor Matt Blunt has announced that the state of Missouri has approved $5.1 million in state funds that will go to better train more than 21,000 Missouri workers who are employed at a total of 179 companies in the state.

The $5.1 million in fund was approved by the Missouri Department of Economic Development and its Division of Workforce Development.

Governor Blunt said about the $5.1 statewide workforce training investment, "We are continuing to enact pro-jobs, pro-growth initiatives that have helped Missourians create nearly 85,000 new jobs since January 2005. The Customized Training Program is a pro-growth approach to improving the education and skill levels of our workforce in Missouri. Missouri already has a strong, well-educated workforce and this investment in the future will help enhance productivity and allow us to be more competitive in the global economy."

The money will go to train 21,704 new and current employees at a total of 179 Missouri companies statewide. Some of the businesses only have a few employees to train, while other business have many more. The funds are just another part of Missouri's active and generous budget for the 2007 fiscal year that began this past July 1st. All of the funds were added to the budget by the General Assembly and will be distributed by the Missouri Job Development Fund through the Customized Training Program.

With the money, the 179 companies will be able to train their employees better for their jobs and help them better prepare for their current or future employment. This will also boost productivity for the companies since they will have better train employees working for them.

The Missouri Job Development Fund grants money to businesses so that they can better train their employees or future employees in their company. The money allows these companies to upgrade skills of existing employees or train people for newly created jobs.
