There is a new phenomenon going on in the Criminal Justice field. That phenomenon is called "The Cold Detective Squad". Almost all States have their own Cold Case Department. Those who do not they also have Traveling Cold Detectives. The need and cause for this is the percentage of unsolved cases, usually cases that involve the murder and rape of a women, because they are the easiest to solve due to the advances of DNA Science. So most Cold Case Detectives concentrate on these types of cases also because, no matter how long time has pass, DNA has come so far that Scientist can extract DNA out of the smallest amount of matter.
Also, with the invention of Luminol, used to determine if blood was in an area, even after the area was cleaned up and also painted over. Luminol will still glow under an ultra violet light where ever blood is detected and sometimes no matter how long time has passed.
These Scientific Advances has made the job of solving cold cases, solvable. Some of these cases has sat in the Police Department Evidence Room for twenty to thirty years just growing dust. Then, with the creation of the Cold Detectives, this cases are now being taken off the shelves and looked at with a fresh eyes and new technology.
Not only has Forensic Science, put many a perpetrator behind bars, but it has also freed many innocent people who have spent halves of their life behind bars for a crime they never committed. This is not meant to be prejudicial in any way, but I am a firm believer, that Cross Racial Eyewitness Identification, is far from one hundred percent accurate. I believe it is far from it and I also believe it goes both ways. Not just a white person I.Dying a black person, but also a black person I.Dying a white person is just plain unreliable and should never be the entire foundation of a Prosecuting Attorney case.
